Stanwell Park is a member of the North Wollongong Primary School Sport Association (PSSA)
Children who display excellence in a sport are given the opportunity to attend district trials. The order of progression is District, Zone, Region, State and Australian. Children who represent the State are eligible for a Regional Blue Award which are presented at an annual dinner. Sports which children can attend are numerous – golf, rugby (union and league), touch, softball, cricket, basketball, AFL, hockey, netball and tennis. Children are given the same privileges in the 3 main carnivals: Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. The first 2 placegetters at the school carnival in Athletics/Swimming are eligible to participate at the District Carnival.
The progression is then Region / State / Australian carnivals. The first 6 placegetters at the School Cross Country are eligible to compete at the District carnival. The first 5 placegetters at the District carnival then compete at the Regional Carnival. From this carnival 4 children compete at the State Carnival and finally an Australian carnival is held.
