Band Program

Stanwell Park Public School is committed to providing a wide range of learning experiences catering for the individual needs, skills and talents of our students. The School's Band Program was initiated in 1998. This program was made possible through the school's close association with Engadine Music.

This program has been highly successful as it provides an opportunity for children to develop knowledge and skills to learn music and to play a musical instrument. The instruments are brass, woodwind or percussion. A professional group of tutors who provide the music lessons at school teaches the children.  This is then backed by band lessons where the students learn to play as a group under the expert instruction of Mrs Jo Holloway, our band teacher.  All children gain confidence and skills through a variety of in school and out of school performances. This year the band program caters for 30 young musicians from years 4-6.  Initially the children enter the band program as part of the Training Band. Following this initial stage, they then become part of the Performing Band. Each November, auditions are held to determine instrument selection for the new members of the Training Band. Parent meetings are also held at this time to provide information of the Band Program and to discuss monetary and personal responsibilities.  We have been very proud of the accomplishments of our students and look forward to continuing this vital program in the future.
