Last week our Stage 3 students participated in a three day excursion to Canberra. The excursion was a tremendous success with the students visiting a range of venues including Parliament House (both old and new), National Museum, War Memorial, Questacon (National Science Centre) and the Institute of Sport among others. The teachers were extremely proud of the outstanding behaviour of the students throughout the excursion.
A highlight was the visit to Parliament House where the students were lucky enough to have an exclusive visit to the Senate as well as the House of Representatives. The tour guide was extremely impressed with our students for their knowledge and understanding of the parliamentary process.
Excursions such as these are very valuable learning experiences with teachers and students working together in a variety of new situations to reinforce and expand upon the themes studied in various subjects. As previously mentioned, the teachers were extremely impressed with the overall behaviour of the students of Years 5 and 6. This was reinforced by the comments of members of the public and staff at various venues who commented most favourably on the outstanding behaviour of Stanwell Park students. We were very proud of our students.
A special thank you must go to Mrs Bedwell and Mrs Hammond for their outstanding organisation and to Mrs Bedwell and Mrs Hammond for their willingness to give their time and effort to take such a large group of students on excursions such as these.
