Our Seacliff Community of Schools have all undertaken to discuss, devise and create an Aboriginal garden at each school. This has come about as the result of a specific grant applied for on behalf of all schools in our Community.
Last Thursday we were lucky enough to secure a very special visitor. Terry Rankmore is a local horticulturist. Terry visited our school for two sessions, one for K-2, the other 3-6. At these sessions, Terry explained the importance of certain plants to the Aboriginal people and what these plants are used for. Terry also suggested certain plants which would be suitable for the construction of our Aboriginal garden. This will be situated in the garden plot half-way down the Station St driveway.
A team of students planted the plants donated by Terry on Friday. The new garden looks spectacular and is a credit tot he students who worked on it. Soon a special sign will be erected to name the garden.
